“Legend of the Patriots” is a war drama which portrays the horror of war and the story of the soldiers of the First Squad, Second Platoon led by Hyun-jung, a sergeant first class.

It focuses on the miseries of war and each individual who had to tight with each other during the war and tells the stories of nine soldiers who fought in the Korean War.

Lee Hyun-jung (Choi Su-jong)
He is a big brother of the unit and the best field soldier. He is a veteran soldier who has fought in many battles against North Korean soldiers from since the time Korean Army was called as national defense troops. His personal background is unknown except the fact that he is a genius warrior. He holds fast to the principle and completes any orders, but he puts his men’s lives first. During a fierce battle, he reunites with his ex-girlfriend, Lee Su-gyung who has become a North Korean officer, and he continues his painful love. This may make him more silent.
The members of the squad respect him, and at the same time, they feel somewhat distant from him.

Lee Su-gyung (Lee Tae-ran)
During the Japanese occupation, she learned socialist ideas while she was interested in the independence movement. She was in love with Lee Hyun-jung. When the US Army stationed in South Korea after Korea’s liberation, she painfully broke up with Hyun-jung and defected to North Korea, and afterwards, she became a North Korean officer. She is a cool-headed and competent officer, but she gradually feels doubts about war.
As she runs into her ex-boyfriend, Sergeant First Class Lee Hyun-jung at a battle, her mind gets complicated...

Park Woong (Lee Deok-hwa)
He is a commander of the 13th Division and was a general in an army for national independence. He is one of a few independence fighters in the Korean Army where most people are from the Japanese Army. He has fought in various battles since he was an independence fighter. He has outstanding ability in planning operations and is a warmhearted man who regards his men as his own sons. He is easygoing and has a fine character as a general.

《战友》以韩国战争时期作为背景，讲述了由一等中士贤重所率领的2排1班的队员们所发生的故事，向人们真实地再现了战争的残酷，是一部战争史诗电视剧。《战友》这部电视剧讲述了参加韩国战争的9名部队成员，在战争中所经历的一系列悲壮故事，描述了战争所带来的悲痛，以及因为战争只能将枪口对准彼此的无奈。

李贤重 (崔秀宗)
他是部队里的大哥，也是野战场上最优秀的战士。在参加国防警卫队时期，就曾与朝鲜人民军数次交锋，经历过众多战争的洗礼，是一名经验丰富的战士。但是大家只知道他是一位战争奇才，他的身份和来历却无人知晓，充满了神秘的色彩。他是一位追求使命必达的原则主义者，但也是一位将部下的生命放在首位的领导者。在激烈的战争期间，他与曾经的恋人，现任朝鲜人民军军官的李秀景重逢。这悲剧般的爱情进一步加重了李贤重的负担，使得他有口难言。队员们在尊敬李贤重的同时，又不自觉地与感到了与他之间的隔阂和冷漠。

李秀景 (李泰兰)
在日本殖民统治时期，投身于独立运动，从而接触到了社会主义的思想。她曾经是个李贤重的恋人。在解放以后，随着美军进驻南韩，她毅然忍痛与李贤重分手，并来到了北朝鲜，之后在北朝鲜担任人民军军官。她虽然是一位头脑冷静、能力卓越的军官，但是对战争却逐渐产生了质疑。
在战场上，与过去的恋人，现任韩国国军中士李贤重的偶然重逢，使得她的心情越发复杂起来…

朴雄 (李德华)
曾任独立军的军官，现任13师团的团长。韩国军队中的军官大部分来自于日军，他可谓是为数不多的来自于独立军的军官。从独立军时期起，他就曾经历过大大小小的战争。他不仅有着卓越的作战能力，而且有着一颗温暖的心，对待部下就如同自己的孩子一样。为人洒脱，是一位名副其实的优秀将领。

‘戦友’は朝鮮戦争当時、一等中士のヒョンジュンが導く2小隊の1分隊隊員たちの話を戦争の血なまぐささと共にリアルに描いた本格的な戦争ドラマである。

‘戦友’は戦争の痛みとその中でお互いに銃口を狙うしかなかった人々の一つ一つに注目したドラマで朝鮮戦争に参戦した9人の部隊員たちが経験する戦争の惨状の物語である。

イ・ヒョンジュン(チェ・スジョン)

部隊での兄貴的な存在。野戦において最高の戦士である。国軍の創立以前の国防警備隊時代から人民軍と散々戦闘を経験したベテランである。しかし戦闘の鬼才だというのを除いては身分が全然知られていない。どんな命令でもやりとげる原則主義者だが、部下たちの命を何より大切にする。熾烈な交戦中、イ・スギョンを人民軍将校として再会して切ない恋を受け続くことになる。それがイ・ヒョンジュンをもっと無口にさせるかも知れない。そして分隊員たちはそんなイ・ヒョンジュンに尊敬と同時に何か冷たさを感じる。

イ・スギョン(イ・テラン)

日帝時代、独立運動に関心を持って社会主義思想を体得した。イ・ヒョンジュンとは恋人同士だった。解放以後、米軍が南韓に進駐するとヒョンジュンと悲しい別れをし、越北する。それから北朝鮮で人民軍将校に生まれかわることになる。冷徹で有能な将校だが戦争に対して徐々に懐疑を抱くようになる。戦場で偶然、昔の恋人だった国軍のイ・ヒョンジュン中士に会いスギョンの心境はもっと複雑になって行くのに…

パク・ウン(イ・ドクファ)
独立軍出身の将軍で13師団の師団長である。日本軍出身の軍人がほとんどだった韓国軍の中で数少ない独立軍出身の将軍である。独立軍の時から様々な戦闘経験を持っている。非常に優れた作戦能力と部下たちを自分の子供のように思いやる暖かい面も持っている。気軽い性格で将軍らしい品性を取り揃えている。
